Using http://perldoc.perl.org instead of http://doc.perl.org is more Google-friendly, e.g. if someone searches for "perldoc perlvar", there is a higher change of http://perldoc.perl.org/perlvar.html being the top result because the string 'perldoc' appears in the URI.
Why the redundancy? Why not doc.perl.org?
